December 1st we were able to catch a sight of the annual Christmas Nativity Scene competition here in Krakow. The first competition took place in 1937!

The nativity scenes are judged based on:
- drawing on the tradition (they are modeled either after the Marian Bascilica in the Old Square or after the church in the Wawel Castle)
- decoration
- color
- dolls
- architecture
- novelty
- moving parts
- overall aesthetic impression
