We are planning to buy kitchen appliances here, now that we live in Europe and are so thankful to all of our friends and family who gave us financial wedding gifts so that we could make our home here! We thought we may rent a car to go pick up appliances, most of which are 1/2 the price in Germany as compared to Poland. We gave amazon.de a test run last week and got this really cute walker for Lucas in the mail just 4 days after we ordered it! I saw it in the store here for 600PLN (=200CDN) and got it on amazon.de for 70EURO (=95CDN). That's less than 1/2 the price!!! The shipping was so easy (cost 10EURO for the walker), and showed up right to our door, with no other additional charges that we figure this is the way to go, and WAY cheaper than renting a car.
Next on the list are a crock pot, a kitchen aid mixer, a slicer, and a microwave...
One slight problem is that the website is exclusively in German! Here are some hints i've discovered for navigating it:
- use google translator - that gives you a good idea of what you're looking at
- use a free online translator - it's a bit of a pain, but worth the savings!
- compare it to amazon.com - the sites are very similar... having a wedding and baby registry on amazon.com has helped!
