Joy To The World!

Joy to the world! the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.

Joy to the Earth! the Saviour reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.

Joy to the World, originally written by Isaac Watts in 1719 was based on Psalm 98.
While we sing it today at Christmas to talk about Christ's first coming, Watts actually wrote the hymn glorifying Christ's truimphant return at the end of the age, or His second coming!

So as you celebrate Christ's birth this year, may his imminent return be foremost in your minds... as we remember Him who was born in human flesh, took on the very nature of a servant, died to redeem us, may we also remember the truth that Christ the King is coming back for us. His kingdom will not be destroyed, his dominion will never end! Come, Lord Jesus, Come!
