Came across this in a reading this morning and was intruiged by it because it describes not only how many of the world religions view God, but also how we sometimes look at God... it goes something like this...
"God sets up a race course, give humans a set of rules, and then command them to run the course. God waits at the finihs line and evaluates how well they performed. In this scenario, the nature of God would be more or less irrelevant to the character of the Christian pilgrimage. Not who god is but what God demands is what would matter; or rather, who God is would matter only to the extent that it informed what God demands..." (he goes on to talk about the truine nature of God)
